Quick Hit: Two Anti-Choice Bills Pass House of Delegates

HB2579 (Byron), a bill to require that physicians perform an ultrasound before provision of an abortion and offer that the woman view the ultrasound, just passed the House of Delegates on a vote of 62-37.

HB2634 (Cline), a bill that also requires an ultrasound be performed and further requires that the physician give the woman biased information on which there is no medical consensus, has also passed the House on a vote of 64-34.

Twilight Zone Moment Alert: Right after the passage of her bill designed to unnecessarily insert the government into the doctor-patient relationship, Delegate Byron, speaking to the smoking ban bill, said, “Government does not know what is best for us.”

Um, hello?
